A visit to Al Hafa Suq

On 21 of December I went with some students from my school to Al Hafa Suq , a wonderful traditional place in Salalah, where you can find different traditional things and traditional Omani crafts that Omani people used in the past. That includes frankincense such as 'Lopan', a famous kind of frankincense that is only found in Dhofar from a very special tree. One of the shopkeepers told us about the types of 'Lopan' and from where they get it and its different usages. Lopan is a rare tree that is used like a medicine, and in the past people from Egypt came to Dhofar just to get Lopan and use it to mummify the dead. Also, Lopan is used to kill the germs and can produce a nice smell.

And in Al Hafa Suq, a tourist can find many Omani traditional cloths like dishdasha, coffia and khenger that Oman is famous of. Also, you can find Dhofari women dresses that are unique by their long tails.

Moreover, Al Hafa Suq contains other traditional items like Majemer, which is a tool Omani use for frankincense. Also, there are different cooking tools that are made from the leaves of Palms trees. That is besides the special Omani pottery.
In a short, if you are visiting Salalah Al Hafa Suq is the best place to smell the beauty of ancient Oman.
